NSW MASTERS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP CRITERIUM

NSW STATE MASTERS CHAMPIONSHIPS CRITERIUM | MMAS1-2 RACE REPORT

The second day of the Championships would determine the criterium Champions, a race for the sprinters and fast men ... expect someone forgot to tell Moosh Brown.

After a dry and fast day of racing that saw Peter Milostic take the MMAS4 title with an impressive solo ride, the MMAS1 and MMAS2 race would be fought out under rainy conditions.

The Nero Racing #teamedition guys had a very similar plan to the road race, make the early stages tough and force a selection that suited Moosh and or Beau. Chris utilised the start/finish uphill drag to repeatedly string the bunch, giving Moosh the launch pad to break the elastic of the bunch.

Moosh took MMAS 1 rider Jeremy Hopson with him and the two set about extending a lead. With the bunch looking at each other in the wet condition, the two quickly established a massive lead. That said, both riders are clearly on top form and were riders to watch coming into the race, and with a bunch being controlled by Chris and Beau things were looking good.

Amazingly the peloton was pulled from the course after only 30min as the two lead riders were threatening to lap the main bunch. This then brought about a very strange dynamic with only two riders left on course, both of whom were gaurenteed a gold medal.

In the end Jeremy won the sprint with an effort from long range, however Moosh was crowed the MMAS 2 title making it 2 from 2 at the State Championships for Nero Racing.
